no sound

the volume control is lit up but when you try to make it louder or lower,
there is no sound coming from it. there is no sound coming from the speakers
but you can hear sound when wearing headplugs.

i've ran through all of the hardware checks, updated drivers but nothing
seems to help.

If you have sound in your headphones, then your sound is working.

You must have the speakers muted somehow, what happens if you unplug
your headphones? Some headphone jacks will disconnect the speakers.

Have you done the sound setup in Media Center and in Windows. (The two
are separate).

A bit more detail about your computer would help us answer your problem,
otherwise we are guessing.

Hi Rob,
This may sound strange a couple of weeks back my son had a problem
much the same and it was as simple as the speaker lead was back the front
instead of green jack to green socket he had black to green and no sound but
the light was on.
