Not too long ago I switched from ie6 to firefox. Yet with some sites I
must continue using ie6. I've been trying to get on to windows update,
but with no success. The info bar does not give me any options, just a
help screen. I've tried diabling zonealarm firewall, setting all
security levels as low as possible, enabling any activeX option in the
Custom settings...
Also, I cannot open .pdf files/pages on the web, with either browser.
I've tried reinstalling ver7 of the adobe reader, etc.
Any help?

I get similar because I run IE6 in HIGH security (as recommended). I had to
add various sites to my trusted zone for the updates to be possible. There
are about 4 of them for Microsoft and some are only identified on the lower
status bar when you fail to get anywhere.

If that doesn't work, try returning Internet Security to "Medium" (no
customization at all).

Good luck!

Thanks, but I've tried this, even resetting to default. I've tried to
go lower, but IE will not let the settings go any lower than medium.

BTW, I've got a couple sites listed under trusted, but maybe I'm
missing some.

Thanks.
