No updates for me

I can't seem to run Windows Updates. I have XP Pro SP1 and I'm trying to go
to SP2. When I go to the Windows Updates site, I can get to where it gives me
the option to "Express Install" or "Custom Install." When I try to click on
one, I get nothing. No timing out or error codes. Nothing. Also, my automatic
updates options under my system configurations are all greyed out. When I try
to let the Microsoft site turn on my updates it says something like "this is
being handled by your administrator". I am the administrator. This is my home
computer, and there are only two user profiles on it, my administrator
profile and another non-administrator profile. I tried using both, switiching
them from administator and back, and nothing changes. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

I'm not sure if this will help but

Automatic updates greyed out
Click Start, select run and type in: services.msc,
Now scroll down to the autoupdate service and double click it.
Start it and set the startup type to automatic, then reboot.

“The Windows Update Service is not available" and all of the check boxes and
drop-down menus are greyed out. This can happen if the Automatic Update service is
disabled.

Click Start, select Run and type: Services.msc
Press Enter
Locate the - "Automatic Update"
Make sure the service is not disabled and started.

"The Windows Update Service is not available" and all of the check boxes and
drop-down menus are greyed out. Automatic Update Service is missing from the
services.msc list.
Can happen if the wuaueng.dll file is not registered.

Register the file wuaueng.dll:
Click Start, select Run
Type: regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
Press OK.

If that doesn't help
Windows Update Greyed Out - Restore (Line 179)

Thanks!! The registry import at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm did the trick. Still can't
download SP2 from Windows Update site, but I'll wait to see if Auto Updates
takes care of it for me.

Appreciate the help.

Pleased it's fixed for you, SP2 most likely will become available after
you've done some Windows Updates. If not post back in a new thread if you
have any further problems. Have a good weekend.
