I am running Vista with a logitech webcam (laptop does not have a built in
mic). When I click to call computer to computer with an XP user it works just
fine and we can talk.

When I try to do Video, the video works fine but we can't talk and hear each
other...the microphone and speaker volume sliders don't work...they are not
grayed out, they just don't slide....

I have not tried this with anyone else yet...we are both on Messenger
8.1...any thoughts?

Welcome to the club, join the thousands of others having the same problem,
which is not restricted to Logitech cameras. There will be alot of
suggestions on a possible fix, I wish you the very best in getting a
solution. My solution is to replace my hard drive and install XP.
I firmly believe this is a Vista problem, not a camera problem. By the way,
you will find Skype works as well as SightSpeed.
My condoneces.
Take care.

I have the same problem when starting a video conversation. Try starting a
voice only conversation, then start the webcams. This workaround works for
me, hope it helps.
