Greetings Debbie,

As a starting point, on the indicators on the side that show up when you're doing a voice
conversation, are the green bars moving?

If not, you may want to start diagnosing this by making sure your contact has their voice
hardware setup correctly and if they contacts can hear them. They can check their setup by
pressing the Alt key on the keyboard in any Messenger window to bring up the menubar,
choosing Tools, and then Audio and video setup.
