no zonealarm, static ip, or wupdater.exe but keep getting 0x80072F

I have disconnect Zonealram, I’m not infected with wupdater.exe, my hosts and
hosts.sam are clean, and I’ve add windows update URLs to my trusted hosts. I
can even get a file from the windows update site such as
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v4/iuident.cab despite all I keep getting
the error code 0x80072F76 when try to find updates.

Could anyone provide some help, please??

Could you please send me a copy of "Windows Update.log" (there is a space in
between the words) in the Windows directory (typically c:\windows)?

Hi David and Thanks for your help,

I Found two different “Windows Update.log�, with and without space between,
I don’t know why, maybe because I use a different user at home
(Administrator), and at the office (windows domain logon, which I’m using
right now).

“WindowsUpdate.log� (without space) seems to be in use rigth now since it is
read only when I open it with notepad. At the office I access internet via
enterprise proxy server.

I’m e-mailing you both log files.

In your Windows Update v5 log file (WindowsUpdate.log), I see both
error 0x80240030 and 0x80072f76.


Error 0x80240030 is

WU_E_INVALID_PROXY_SERVER
invalid format for proxy list


Please take a look at this one:

When searching for available updates on the Windows Update site, you
receive the 0x8024402C, 0x80240030 or 0x8024502d error.

You might need to use proxycfg.exe (see link above) to either set
or remove a proxy server configuration:

Open a command prompt (Start/Run and then "cmd.exe" without the
quotes").

Run this command to see what proxy configuration WU uses:

proxycfg


If you don't have a proxy, you will need status

Direct access (no proxy server).


If it reports anything else, to set direct access:

proxycfg -d


To get more help on proxycfg:

proxycfg -?
