I would recommend resetting the BIOS back to the factory defaults (use
CTRL+F while in the BIOS) and then double check that the floppy drive
is enabled. If that doesn't fix the problem, try updating the BIOS to
the latest version (version 2.3.1 available for download from
http://ftp.dell.com/bios/DXP061-020301.EXE ).
To install the update, download the file to the computer then run it.
When it runs it will restart the computer, load the update BIOS image
to the motherboard, then restart the computer again. Make sure you
don't power off the computer or otherwise interrupt the update
process.
If this doesn't allow you to use the internal floppy drive, then either
the cable for the drive isn't connected correctly, or the drive itself
is bad. If this is the case I (or regular Dell tech support) can
easily set up to have a replacement floppy drive and cable sent out to
you.
If you have any other questions about the system I will be happy to
answer them.
