Well, it's been my experience and that of many other posters here that the
AOL software in all its various versions since AOL 2 (or whatever number it
began at) contains lots and lots of bloat.
It's also felt that once anyone installed AOL in order to use the AOL User
Interface and any of its features -- even if AOL wasn't the person's ISP --
that it was nearly impossible to remove ALL traces of the AOL-related
software if the user decided to uninstall. There were always bits and pieces
of the AOL-related installation hanging around and attached to certain
processes.
