Norton Internet Security and Virus Protection

I have Windows XP Home Edition. Sometimes when I boot up my computer, either
Norton Internet Security or Virus won't load up, or both. When I try to turn
them/it on, I get an error message. So I have to just try to boot up the
computer again for it to load properly. Not only is this frustrating, but
with this problem, or maybe from another different problem, I can surf the
web but can't access e-mail when one or both the Security or Virus aren't
active. What the hell?! Remedies?

Uninstall NIS, maybe completely uninstall as per Symantec FAQ's, then if you
must reinstall NIS

It has to be something else other than un/install. Been there, done that.
The Int Sec and Anti Virus both work when they actually load. They don't
always load when the computer boots up, that's the problem.

Nortons is notoriously shocking for stuff like that. Most people I know that
have troubles with their pc, I ask if they have Nortons loaded. If so, I tell
them to ditch it. It also can make your pc run really slow.
Vet is the most stable anti virus I have found. Make the switch is my advice.

Then you have a conflict, between NIS & something else, which if you need
further guidence on you should raise with symantec tech

It probably has something to do with the fact that I haven't renewed my
'update subscription' with them in over a year so the program is probably
doing it to me just to **** me off! Perhaps Symantec's little way to make
sure you renwew, maybe not. Nice! It does beg the question, why even have
it if it's not updating. I guess I figure at least I have the protection
that built up before the subscription ended.

The program's probably doing it because I haven't renewed my 'update
subscription' in over a year so it's doing it to **** me off! Of course, if
it's not updating, why even have it on my computer right? Strange though,
why can I surf the 'net but can't access e-mail accounts when this problem
occurs?

If the App is not updating, because you havent renewed your subscription,
then its of little use to you.
Uninstall it and install a free one, if you dont want to pay.
ZoneAlarm has a free firewall
AVG has a free AV
There are others
