XP Pro seems to be working with SP2

My machine with XP Pro had problems with SP2.
Norton Personal Firewall 2002 (4.0) Blocks all web activity after install
sp2 I can disable NPF and it works. I uninstalled SP2 and it works again. I
used to be able to find the fix or an explaination in the past from either
Microsoft or Symactic but I kept drawing blanks. Surely I can not be the
only one with this problem. I do not want to get an upgrade of NPF until I
know it will work with SP2.
Believe me I think check everything I could to get this fixed but has
failed.
Any advice will be helpful

Service Pack 2 when installed automatically enables the Windows Firewall. If
you want to continue to use NPF, try disabling the Wndows Firewall and see
what happens. Sounds like the two firewalls are not compatible with each
other.

I mean XP home had problems, I wonder if I should remove NPF and then
insttall SP2 and reinstall NPF. BUt I do not want to los the subscribtion
and have to get all those updates again there must be an easier fix.

I do believe, and dont' quote me on this. If you uninstall NPF and reinstall
it, the license for the same product will carry over. Either that or it will
ask you once you uninstall it if you want to keep the license. You would of
course say yes to keep it. Make sure you don't delete it. You could always
email Symantec to find out how to go about backing up your license.

I have encountered the same problems and found no solution yet.
I also have Norton Personal Firewall 2003 and have to disable the Personal
Firewall in order to connect to internet.
I am of course very interested in a solution.

Did you undertake a new program scan in Nortons for programs that access the
internet?

Have you looked at this:
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/sp2...m&tpre=us&tdir
WinXP Information Center SP2

Most problems with Nortons can be found by searching the knowledge base
http://www.symantec.com/search/

Getting rid of your firewall to solve your problem is not unlike getting rid
of a smoke detector because of the noise while ignoring the fire.

Instead configure your firewall for Pogo games.
Pogo should have that information.

As for what firewall?
Some operating systems such as Windows XP come with a firewall.
Others such as Windows 98/ME do not.

If you did not install a firewall, it is unlikely there is a firewall unless
it is part of the operating system.

For firewall configurations take this to a newsgroup for your operating
system or contact the firewall manufacturer as appropriate:
