Not able to Install updates

Hi,
I upgraded my Windows XP home edition to XP Pro.
After upgrade, when i checked for updates, it showed 87 updates.
It seems, all download of updates were completed, but when installing,
system says "following updates cannot be installed" and lists all updates.
I couldnt ascertain the problem from windowsupdate log file.
Please help to resolve the issue.

Ignore the title - Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from
Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP installation
