How can I get my PC to recognize my XP Pro CD as legitimate to this PC. A
couple years ago work was done at a local shop (now closed). I think they
used different Win XP Pro CD along with my registration.

Now the error message reports that I have a pirated version even though I'm
holding my original $189.00 OS Disk in my hand. How do I get the PC to
validate my CD?

Do a repair install using that disk and enter the correct validation key
when requested.

In order to correct your issue, you need to perform
a "Repair Install" using your new, genuine Windows XP
Professional CD and Product Key.

I don't have a [new, genuine Windows XP Professional CD] only my original pre
SP2
When I run that cd error message:
Setup cannot continue because the version of windows on your computer is
newer than the version on the cd.
Do I have to call MS by phone to get a fix?

It appears your version of Windows XP Pro
does not include SP2. To resolve this issue,
you can easily make a new Windows XP Pro
CD with SP2 slipstreamed in, then perform
the repair install.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

Windows Slipstreaming and Bootable CD Guide

or

AutoStreamer 1.0.33 (preferred)

Windows XP Service Pack 2 - Direct Download

I have slipstream now. I dug around and found my MS SP2 CD everything moving
along in a orderly fashion...so far. Thanks D

Using Slipstream, I entered the XP Pro disk, next entered the SP2 CD then
saved the file [stream.iso] to the HD
Next I burned that file to a CD and got another copy of SP2?

I was expecting something to enter my correct Win XP Pro Product Key #

What did I not do?
