some say they have not done them in years. and that they can destroy your

Jane;
Most of the problems supposedly caused by updates are actually caused by
pre-existing problems.
Your computer must be free of spyware, viruses and other malware before
updates are installed.
All problems, known and unknown should be resolved before attempting
updates.
Part of this means you need to keep your antivirus up to date
Using a firewall
An up to date spyware detector
And of course the latest Windows Updates:

The only reason to uninstall any Critical Update especially a Service Pack
is if there are problems you are reasonably certain will be resolved by the
uninstallation. And then it should be reinstalled as soon as a resolution
is found.

Do NOT uninstall SP-2 just because of the incomplete or faulty information
given by the misinformed.

Thanks, it just worries me to read all the problems some have. I would be
better off not reading them, but I read so I can learn what to do if I have
any problems and it makes me not want to do them, thanks, Jane
