I think that after reading this forum we have got to admit
that Sp2 was not ready for the public. Imagine that old
grandma sittin at home and all she wants to do is surf the
web and her automatic updates killed her machine. Updates
need to help improve, but mostly DO NO HARM. Come on now
Bill tell your techs no more exotic vacations until they
do it right.

Your idea of "ready for the public" seems to be "Microsoft is indeed
responsible to make their updates compatible with pre existing 3rd
party software."
That suggests everything.
That is quite impossible.
The software manufacturers also have their part.
Those that care, were making plans for months before SP-2 was
released.
Others abandoned their customers.

Microsoft needs to realize that they have a problem with
SP2 or there will be a lot of apples bought at xmas. Thats
all i am saying on this forum because it is totally
useless to get any help to fix our computers here. Only
pro Microsoft SP2 propaganda is allowed to be spouted here.

Funny none of the 3rd party software I use had any problems with SP2. The
only software I had problems with was WMP 10 (MSoft software). If you want
to "slam" someone then "slam" the criminals on the internet who made all of
this necessary. There lies the blame. If there were no criminals on the
internet breaking into some one else's computer, all of this security would
not be necessary. Get real ... put the blame where it belongs. MSoft is not
responsible for the criminals, but they are trying to close up the opening
to make the internet safer to the average person.

There is a great deal of help with working solutions here.
If you do not see them, you are not looking.

I didnt come here to slam anyone, I came here to get help
for my computer so that I to could enjoy the wonders of
SP2, but what I got was a microsoft we make no mistakes
commecial. If it wasnt for Wayne Morgan I would have
gotten no help at all. Thank you very much Wayne, you have
pointed me to a very good website. I found out I had an
incompatible bios. Now I am off to flash. Hopefully I
will get lucky this time.

"No criminals on the internet!" Boy I love that. Where have you been hiding,
under a rock. There are a lot of criminals on the internet. Check the
national news, They rip off hundreds every day by hacking credit card info,
conning the misinformed out of credit info, looking at an unprotected HD and
getting private info, networking thousand of unprotected computers together
and extorting money or a DoS will shut them down again. What is that?
Criminals, hackers, crackers, pheakers, what ever you want to call them,
once they invade the privacy of any one they have broken the law and they
are criminals. When they unleash a new virus, worm, or any kind of malware,
they are a criminal. Plain and simple. Breaking the law, even for a kick, is
wrong. The "internet" was a lot safer in the early '80's, only a hand full
of colleges linked together. No anti-virus software, no firewalls, no
adware, in fact a clean and safe experience. Of course in was rather bland,
but is was still a wonder to behold, computers across thousands of miles
transferring data at 300 bps ! ( now my connection is 3Mbps ) Now at the
rate the 'net is going it will have to be shut down and fumigated, the
roaches have crawled to almost every corner of the 'net. Jail time is to
good for the slime doing the trash they do on the 'net. 50 years of hard
labor, or front line combat duty ( without ammo ), that is punishment.
