Absolutely, staying online should provide normal delivery. The problem I'm describing is
this -- when you don't have an active connection between yourself and your contact (which is
what occurs when you're appearing offline) the message gets delivered as an offline message.
If the offline messaging service is not functioning for some reason, then your contact won't
be able to communicate with you. That said, a workaround is just to keep that connection
active, although the only real way of doing this is going to type to your contact.
Connections become inactive after a few minutes normally though.
I admit I've gone back and re-read your initial message now and realize you said this is also
happening when you're online. Also if this above problem is occurring, your contacts would
be notified that the message could not be delivered. I assume they're not reporting that
either?
