How do I turn of the not responding message and gray out. Most of the time it
is wrong, and it's really annoying.

Hi Howard,

You just will need to open Task Manager. (Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC or Right
click on Taskbar and click Task Manager)
1. Click on Applications tab.
2. Click on the application that is not responding to highlight it.
3. Click End Task.
4. Confirm the action.

That should end it for you. It might take a moment. If it will still
not stop, then a restart will do the trick.

Shawn,
thanks for the reply, but What I meant was how do I stop getting the stop
responding messages. the pop up so quickly, and most of the time the program
is working just fine but slowly like Photoshop working on an image. The gray
out of the whole screen is annoying.

You can't turn that off, you need to get to the root of the problem. The
'Not Responding' implementation is there to help you. Check All Programs >
Maintenance > Problem Reports and Solutions > View Problem History

Select the program that constantly crashes, right click it, click View
Details and copy the contents to the clip board and paste it back here as a
reply so that we can help diagnose the problem.

Howard,

I would do what Andre suggested so we can get a better ideas of what is
causing the problem with the program. This will help us find a solution
easier for you.

Have you tried reinstalling the program to see if that helps?

Shawn

most common, and I'm not sure what it's about. the other common one is
Outlook.

Howard,

Looking at your error messages, I would try reinstalling Photoshop and
Outlook. You will need the 2003 and newer version of Outlook for it to
be compatible with Vista. I'm not sure about Photoshop, but I would
make sure it was compatible to.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
