I deploy thru WSUS and my supervisor wanted me to check on KB917021.
i tried searching and nothing came up.

I see this was an old update.. could it be its not available thru WSUS
anymore and was taken care of in another update?

KB917021 is an *optional* update, only available from the Microsoft Download
Center.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...8-F7FC20195769
It was never available via WU/MU/WSUS.

Furthermore, Windows XP Service Pack 3 contains newer builds of the files
updated by KB917021, so if you have XP SP3 installed, this update is
superseded and not needed. (This was verified by a simple comparison of the
file builds and dates provided in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917021 and
the file builds and dates on an XP SP3 system.)

If you don't have XP SP3 installed, *that* would probably be the better
place to direct compliance concerns.
