Not an SP1 problem: Invisible Icons on Desktop in Vista

HELLO,

I wonder if there is a fix for this. I have an external USB Seagate
Hard drive. If I browse to that using the explorer and then right
click an application or folder, choose copy, then right click on the
desktop and choose paste, The icon won't show up unless I reboot.
If I look in the explorer desktop folder I can see the file is there,
it just won't show up visibly on the desktop. I have tried using right
click refresh, but that does not help either. If I do the same thing
from the local hard drive to the desktop, it shows up visibly on the
desktop everytime. What could this be all about? Not a critical
problem but an annoyance none-the-less.

Thanks.

Respectfully,

Trev

HAHAHA...
Just for your information: I do run Ubuntu 7.10 under a Virtual
Machine using VMwARE for Workstation. It bridges out to the Internet
just fine and otherwise works very well. I like it a lot more than the
old Red Hat Fedora even.

Answer to this is in this article. Says it will be fixed in SP1. Well I've
installed SP1 and am still having the problem!
Anyway just set desktop icons to 'align to grid'.

Oh wow....guess what? Now with SP1 installed it doesn't to that
anymore. I could have sworn it was still happening but it's working
fine now. I did in fact have 'align to grid' disabled. But now with
SP1 I can still disable that and the copies work normal.

Thanks a ton for your link.
