Not sure if an update succeeded or failed !

When I installed this month's updates, update number 6 of 8 (I didn't catch
the KB number unfortunately) was marked as 'failed' during the installation.

'No problem' I thought - just run update again and it'll pick up the missing
one and install that.

However, when I run update it tells me that there are no updates to install,
and when I look at 'Review your update history' there are 8 updates showing
as 'succeeded' and none as 'failed'.

So which is correct?

I don't particularly want to remove all 8 and update again, especially since
the Security Centre didn't pick up the updates in the first place (even
though I've got them set to download but only install when I ask) so I had
to pick them upmyself via control panel.

Or am I just fretting over nothing ??!!

Thanks

Sorry...

Windows version?

If they're installed, they'll be listed in Add/Remove Programs, showing the
date of the installs.

Apologies - I'm using XP Home SP2

Add/Remove programs shows all the updates except the
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - October 2005 (KB890830)

I'm sure that wasn't the one that failed, so it looks like everything went
through OK despite the warning.

Thanks

MSRT downloads, runs & goes away, leaving no (real) traces, so yes, it
sounds like everything's hunky-dory. (Assuming you downloaded/installed
manually via Windows Update, it's entirely possible that Automatic Updates
got the failed ones installed.)

How to configure and use Automatic Updates in Windows XP:
