will not update to sp2

I have xp with sp1 currently installed. I have been trying to update to sp2.
Its starts to install going about have way in states that file already exists
and uninstalls itself. does the smae with explorer7. It doesnt tell me what
file already exists. I have tried to save the sp2 update to desktop and
install from there with same problem. I also have deleted everything in the
update folder. Any ideas? thanks

Go to Start > Run > type

winver

Click OK

What ServicePack does it say that is installed ?
