Reinstalling SP2 is what Microsoft says to do to reinstall IE6.

I wouldn't recommend either. Can you please do they following:

1. Select Start >> Run
2. Type "cmd" with out the quotation marks and press enter
3. Type ping google.com and press enter

Let me know the results.

Ok next time one reply is fine, there is no need to post a new thread. If
you push the stop button in Internet Explorer and then type an address and
press enter does it bring you to that site? Or does it never load? If you
can get to a website, please visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and
install all the updates listed there. If you can't get to a website let me
know, along with what type of connection your running on? Dialup? Cable?
DSL? LAN? ect?

Internet Explorer should have been repaired by your reinstalling SP2.
You can ping google, so your aol dial up is working OK.

What's probably true is either a misconfiguration or spyware.
These newsgroups may not be the best way to get things straight.
For instance, this is a group for WU, not IE, and stay in thread and all.

Was Windows on your computer when you bought it? Are you still entitled
to support from your computer's maker, such as Dell, Gateway, HP?

You might try reinstalling AOL. When you reinstall AOL it should reset the
connection settings in Internet Explorer.
