Nothing happens after I click "Download"

I have WU set to notify but not to download.
After boot up today, I was duly notified about the new updates.
I then clicked "download" and nothing further has happened.
My internet connection is OK and I have not had problems in the past when
downloading and installing the regular Windows Defender updates.
I know I can go to the MS site and download them but I need to know why this
failure has occurred.
Anybody else had similar problems?

Same here, went on to microsoft.com to check via that route and it
'appears' the updates are now installed..

Looks like there is an install bug with this update (I also got the
'updates cancelled/not installed' when first run..)

i dunno if its related, but Automatic updates just stays at 0%, going to the
WU site it works fine, but AU just stays at 0% on both my computers, i dunno
if its a network issue or what, but thats what its pointing to as its the
only thing i can think of, with why it would affect both machines

I have exactly the same situation and problem. However, this is not the 1st
time this has happened: it seems to happen every month. I click download and
nothing happens. Sometimes the downloads are offered again and then do
download. When I have tried to take the initiative rather than waiting to
see if these "very important" downloads are re-offered, and try to download
them from the microsoft site, over half of them said there were
insurmountable problems and it could not be done, so I am not keen to waste
my time trying to do that again. I would appreciate suggestions for remedies.

Approving the downloads, Downloading and Installing via Automatic Updates
are separate processes. Absent any Errors in your windowsupdate.log, you
may be seeing a delay caused by excessive demand on the servers. It can
take up to 7 days for all Automatic Update users to get new updates when so
many have been released.

You can try downloading/installing the updates via Windows/Microsoft Update:
Understand that by doing so, you're pushing all the Automatic Updates users
further back in the queue (which may explain, at least in part, why
Automatic Updates hasn't brought them in for you yet).

Or, using the KB numbers of the updates, the vast majority of updates
can still be downloaded from the MS Download Center:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.asp
AFAIK, all SECURITY updates for February can be obtained from there.
