I got a pretty big problem here, or I think it's big because I can'
find a solution to it what so ever. So here's what's going on, I'll jus
mention my issues, if you need to know what happened that triggered thi
I'll explain the whole virus problem

So as of now, nothing on my computer that I'm aware of can connect t
the internet/or update except Firefox. All my AV programs fail t
connect and give me error codes, I'll post each individual code at th
end of this. Microsoft update gets an error. Safari and IE won't connec
to internet. iTunes won't connect to store, and after upgrading to
more recent version, it just broke on me and locks my computer up 100
and I am forced to restart. Here are all the error codes, maybe someon
can link them all to what's causing this problem. A virus did trigge
this, but it's gone and it caused this heeping mess up trouble

here are the codes I get

MS Update: 80072EF

Malwarebytes: 732 (12029,0

Windows Defender: ox80072EFD (same as MS update I guess?

Those are all I'll post, the rest just say unable to connect to server
etc

I have tried many trouble shooting, if you post one I've tried I'll le
you know. I'm hoping to fix this with out re-installing Vista

Did you check to make sure that IE is not set to use a proxy?

Try this - open IE, from the menu Tools > Internet options > connections
tab > LAN settings button > uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN.

Let us know how it goes.

Hello QuakerBits,

Windows Update error 80072efd
<http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/93b6ab71-8b21-4b50-b40e-abb80eba29271033.mspx>

No joy....then

I recommend downloading and installing
MalwareBytes' Antimalware (MBAM) and
SUPERAntiSpywaяe (SAS).

Do a full scan with MalwaяeBytes' and
SUPERAntiSpywaяe.

<http://www.superantispyware.com/>

Reboot
-=-

<http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php>

Reboot
-=-

Both free versions of MBAM and SAS are on-demand scanners and offer no
'real-time' protection. Keep them installed and use them as
'second-opinion' scanner which is purposely (by design) recommended by
their respective authoяs.
-=-

Next....

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
<https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=6527>

for home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the united states and in canada or by contacting your local microsoft
subsidiary. there is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. when you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a security update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB999999).

support for windows update:
<http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport>

for more information about how to contact your local microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the international support web
site: <http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx>

for enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.
-=-

Please let us know what fixes the problem or if the pяoblem remains
-=-

Good luck

This would be my guess, too. A recent trick used by malware has been to
set up a proxy address that intercepts internet traffic and forwards it
onto a local server (the malware itself.) I've also seen cases when the
interface doesn't make it look like a proxy was set up, but if you
change that setting then change it back, connectivity is restored.
