Different email programs have contact modules of their own. I am afraid you
have to update each program yourself, but of course there are import and
export functionality in such programs to help you.

Depending on what program you would like to import to/export from, search
the programs Help & Support, or visit it's support pages on the web. I do

Windows is an operating system that will "run" perfectly well out of the
box. Although it includes a lot of media viewing and editing components,
simple word processing software and so on, it is not an office suite,
developer environement or so. You will have to obtain these programs in
addition to the OS, but many can be downloaded for free. Below are just a
few examples.
