Novice needs help

If you are a computer savvy person w/no patience...log off now! If you are
willing to help...post! I have a computer Inspiron 531 w/Microsoft Office
(Business) VISTA; trying to learn, but all on my own. Sync? Is that
something that would allow me to enter a 'contact' and have it appear in all
3 email programs or will I have to type them in individually into each?
$1200 is a 'big' investment for me, on a 'set' income. Tired of getting
'into' something ONLY to find it is a 'sales pitch'. I should NOT have to
'buy' additional programs to make VISTA run...that is something that
Microsoft should provide somehow! I'm sure all these 'programs' you 'need to
buy' are Microsoft related. Bill Gates doesn't understand that NOT everybody
is as 'brilliant' as he...biggest mistake though was 'unleashing' VISTA
without more 'kinks' worked out...but $$$ is $$$ and $$$ is "His GOD" - NOT
mine!

Seeing as you don't have any money, get a grant or a student loan to go to
school and learn about computers so you actually have a clue as to what the

Different email programs have contact modules of their own. I am afraid you
have to update each program yourself, but of course there are import and
export functionality in such programs to help you.

Depending on what program you would like to import to/export from, search
the programs Help & Support, or visit it's support pages on the web. I do
not know what programs you intend to use, but here are two popular ones:

Windows is an operating system that will "run" perfectly well out of the
box. Although it includes a lot of media viewing and editing components,
simple word processing software and so on, it is not an office suite,
developer environement or so. You will have to obtain these programs in
addition to the OS, but many can be downloaded for free. Below are just a
few examples.

Mozilla software:

Thanks...I have 're-typed' all of them into each program. I attempted to
find the Import/Export - but was a little 'too involved' for me to try @ this
moment. I have 'found them in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and in
"IncrediMail"; it's not as important to me, just thought it would be 'time
saving'. Thanks for your 'honesty' and especially for your 'politeness'.
Unfortunately, I have found that 'some' people who 'post' are rude as they
'expect' everybody to NOT be a novice. But all of us are (at some point in
our lives).

Dear Rachel,

It is 'so refreshing' to find someone who has NEVER been a 'novice'. If I
get a 'grant' or a 'student loan' it will be to take 'art' NOT computer. If
I don't know 'what the HELL I'm doing...it is because I chose NOT to 'stand
in Hell' ... What's YOUR problem? Being 'a rude smartA**' has never gotten
people far in life and I will tell you the same thing I told the LAST person
whose 'comment' was unwarranted...don't like MY response to a 'short, curt
remark' REPORT ME! I have this program on my computer to try to find 'help'.
You aren't willing to make suggestions kindly...don't open my email up! You

so much to learn as a "novice" it would serve you well to have a more
hands on approach than a forum. Trial and error just doesn't work well
when you don't have any idea of what you're doing.Computers are an "ART"

destroy your investment.( AKA, fry your computer whilst downloading

you are just learning the term sync, start simple...Vista is still
experiencing the need for major tweaks which you'd never understand at
this point and shouldn't be expected to. You have to start somewhere

One of the advantages with Linux is that everything you'll routinely need
is included 'out of the box'. Many other applications are freely available
with a simple click on the package installer.
