NT Backup problem connection to Removable Storage Service

Hi

SBS 2003 standard. When I run NT Backup I get the error 'The Backup Utility
cannot connect to the Removable Storage service. This service is required
for use of tape drives and other backup devices."

Although Removable Storage service was set to automatic it had not started.
I started the service and tried NT Backup again but go the same error
message as above.

How can I fix this?

Follow-up;

I clicked on 'Removable Storage' in Computer Management and it says 'A
device attached to the system is not working'. Under Device Manger I
uninstalled IBM Ultrium III Tape Drive and rescanned for hardware and it
reinstalled fine.

Still no luck with NT Backup.

May be time to rebuild your RSM database. Rebuild the RSM database by
following the steps:
1) Stop the RSM Service.
2) Delete the RSM databases located at %SystemRoot%\System32\NtmsData.
3) Restart the RSM Service, this will recreate new, empty RSM Databases.
