Hi all,
OK, just installed a Vista Business machine on my 2003 domain. Seems to
be working alright, but I have this particular problem that's starting to get
me worried:
I want to move a few of the "special folders" (Downloads, documents,
desktop etc) to another drive. Moving them isn't the problem: NTFS
permissions are.
I create a "redparanoid" folder in my "data" drive. If I move the special
folders there, files are transferred without further ado, re-mapping works
fine. When I go to add a favorite in IE, though, I get "Access denied"
errors. Went back to the redparanoid folder to check NTFS permissions,
realized that I hadn't set them, so I attempt to add my user name to the
list... Except that the domain isn't visible in the "Locations" window.
Checked the server, performed a couple of diagnostics i.e. netdiag,
dcdiag, dnslint. Everything seems A-OK. Try accessing shares on the server
from the workstation, everything's cool...
Has anyone out there run into similar problems? Any insight would be well
appreciated!
