$NtUninstall directories

I find that over the years of MS updates that these installs make many
$NtUninstall sub-directories that at this point have sucked up maybe 60 to
100 megs of Drive C hard drive which at this point leaves less then 200 meg
for that drive

Is there a reason they have to even exist, can they be removed or moved to
another drive that has lots of free disk space ?

Thanks

Folders that have uninstall as part of the name (for example
$NtUninstallKB282010$ which reside in C:\windows (hidden folders) are Window Hot
Fix Update folders/files) can be safely deleted (providing you never wish to
uninstall the updates). I would recommend leaving these folders for a period of
at least a month to make sure the update is working correctly.

These updates can be deleted individually or in multiples. To find out more
about the update/s go to:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=XXXXXX
NB: XXXXXX = the actual number not including the "Q" or "KB"

Once you have deleted the uninstall folders/files, then go to Control Panel,
Add/Remove Programs. Select the matching Windows Hotfix Title relating the
update folder/file you have just deleted and select remove. You will get a
Windows error. This is because you have deleted the uninstall folder/files. Just
choose OK and the entry will be deleted from the Add/Remove Programs Listing.

Thanks to those who responded.
I ended up using that MS program and used it which auto deleted all those
directories and removed them from the add/remove entries

MS should do something about this as with auto updates over time my PCs had
over 40 of these uninstall directories that sucked up over 250 meg of drive C
! and end user has no idea why the root drive is every getting lower on
drivespace and effecting PC performance.
MS should add some function in their update webpage that allows users to
auto delete what is needed.

Thanks, JR
