NTUSER.DAT files

I have 9 files in the root of c:\users\steve. Why so many and what are they?
The file name is followed by, with no spaces, what looks like registry info.
They are different dates. They are in sets of 3 by date. These files are
in addition to the NTUSER.DAT file, the ntuser.ini file, the ntuser.dat.LOG1
and ntuser.dat.LOG2 files. Can some of these be deleted?

These are the user portions of the registry, you don't want to delete them.
