Hi,

Have you given any consideration to the thought that the card itself may
have failed?

"Gave out" in what respect? It obviously boots and runs Vista in order for
you to do what you've tried. You mean it's 3D ability has failed? Or it's
artifacting? What specifically?

The card has a yellow exclaimation point next to it and so no no amount of
uninstall, cleaning and reinstalling the drivers will get the card to work so
I am stuck in a VGA mode

hi Kfo, what version of forceware drivers are you trying to install?
here's a link
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvist...9.25_whql.html
it could it be a power problem, and the only other thing it may be
something in your bios has changed(unlikely) but anything is worth a
look to resolve your problem, lastly it could be a failing
motherboard(bad!) good luck, keep us posted

These posts are in 2008 - There are 10s of thousands of people with the
nvlddmkm.sys driver error in Windows Vista. This is reminant of the nVidia
card (various models) and the same is happening with ATI Cards.

NOBODY (MS, nVidia, ATI) is offering ANY helpful patches or resolutions.

The error message of nvlddmkm Driver stopped responding and has recovered
keeps showing up.

I even found one site attempting a class-action suit against nVidia - but i
don't think it is the Video Card Company. I think that a Vista update is
incompatible with some Video Drivers and is causing this crash.

One would figure that by now this problem would be well-known and on its way
to being resolved.

I have been having this problem for over 3 weeks and after trying everything
in my little bag of tricks, I am going to give up on Windows Vista until a
responsible party at Microsoft can elaborate on the issue. The laptop pc is
just not functional with this error.
