In the future get drivers directly from the manufacturers web site and not
from Microsoft.

If the driver comes up as a Critical Update, there is normally a good reason
and you should consider getting the driver at that time from the
manufacturer.
If the driver is not critical and everything is working fine, do not install
the newer driver

Than you for help, but I need to reinstall it. I removed it via add/remove
programs and now am having all sorts of monitor problems. The main problem
being that all text is fuzzy.

Open Windows Update
Click Administrator Options on the left column.
Click Windows Update Catalog near the right.
From there you can search for the driver.

But getting the driver directly from the manufacturer will most likely solve
your problem with a more current driver.
The drivers on Windows Update are also from the manufacturers, but often
many months or more older.
The latest drivers are at the manufacturers website.

I saw it in the Windows Update Catalog.
Quite a ways down the list, they are not in date order.
Look for October 2003

The update on NVIDIA's website may not have the same date.
In any case you really want the latest video driver directly from NVIDIA for
your operating system.

And the best way to obtain the lastest please. I have no idea where to start
or what to look for, apart for NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go (Toshiba)

What if I restore the registry that was backed up prior to removal?

Hi Nic,

You can upgrade your drivers. NVIDIA makes there drivers backward
compatible while enhancing the graphics support for your machine.

If you are running NVIDIA version 55.++ then you can certainly upgrade to
the new version which just came out, 70.+++

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Hopefully, you will find the graphics driver of today useful or you can go
to NVIDIA's archive link and find what you need there.
