nVidia driver update

Windows XP with GEForce 4 MX440SE video driver from nVidia was working
fine. Last night I foolishly accepted an invite to install the updated
driver from Windows Update. After the reboot the settings go back to
640x480 60Hz. Changing to any other setting results in a blue screen. I
removed the Microsoft driver and returned to the original nVidia
driver.

Why does Microsoft ask people to install a broken video driver? Oh well
- might as well ask why the grass is green.

The lesson: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

You really answered that yourself, If it works leave well alone, I never
accept driver updates from Microsoft Update, although the drivers from
Microsoft may work in most cases I personally prefer going to the
manfacturer's website to obtain the latest drivers, if the update drivers
showing annoy you when using the update site, just click and select hide this
update.
