I have a Dell XPS 400 purchased 7/2006. It came with a 6800 GS. I bought a
PNY 7900 GS card in January of this year to upgrade the 6800.
If you read the Dell Community regarding the fan noise of a 7900 GS, you'll
see others who opted for a warranty replacement and it made no difference.
So, I don't believe it's the card but rather the drivers.
Anyway, since you're having other issues with your card, go for the warranty
replacement with Dell and hopefully those issues will be resolved. Just know
the noisy fan will still be there.
