When I installed this update my monitor went black. I rebooted and started
it in Safe Mode and the monitor worked again. I uninstalled the update and
was able to continue using the computer until the next day when it installed
the update again and the same thing happened. Has anyone else had this
problem and How do I make Windows stop installing this update? Thanks!

Go to nvidia's website and download the drivers for your card. To hid
the update and not download it open windows update then right click an
choose hide update and it will not download. Here are the links fo
Vista 32bit and 64bit since I don't know what bit your using

'GeForce Release 178

'GeForce Release 178 64bi

Don't LET it install automatically! CHOOSE what you want to install,
and hide the rest.

First step is to tell it to only notify you of the availability of new
updates. You can then download them yourself and make your own
choices.

I went to the nvidia's website and downloaded the driver but it still screwed
up my computer. The screen wasn't black but the resolution was terrible and
I couldn't fix it. I ended up restoring back like it was before the fix and
then hiding the new update like you suggested. Thanks.
