nVIDIA GeForce 6800 - anyone got it working with Vista?

I have been using an nVIDIA GeForce 7900 Ultra graphics card with Vista
Ultimate x64 without any major problem but I need to put it in another
machine. So I swapped it for a GeForce 6800 Ultra and all hell broke loose.

I did of course first uninstall the nVIDIA drivers and then reinstall them
after inserting the new card. Now, there are artifacts everywhere, some
windows don't display anything other than garbled rubbish and performance is
very poor. And when I run the software for the FusionHDTV tuner I have the
display is random until it results in a BSOD.

This version of the nVIDIA drivers (the latest) doesn't seem to allow
tweaking the hardware acceleration settings in Troubleshooting so I am not
sure how I can fix this. So I would like to know if anyone has a GeForce
6800 series GPU working with Vista.

Anyone got it working?
Why would it be incompatible with Vista?
Any suggestions for how to improve the situation?

I tried replacing the 7900 card and everything worked again.

And loving it,

I have both a 6800GT and a 6600 working just fine. I'm going to guess there
are plenty of people that have it working.

Any chance the card is just damaged ?

Unlikely as it has just come from a machine running Fedora Core 6 and has
been working perfectly in that environment.

Are you running Vista x64? Maybe it's a 64-bit driver issue.

My 6800GT works ok but I can't get a second one to work in SLI mode -
not enough resources - and I still haven't been able to sort out the
problem. They worked fine in SLI in XP. Any suggestions to determine
which resources can be removed to get SLI would be gratefully received.

I've used namely Vista32 on it. But I have also loaded Vista 64 and used it.

I Just Recently Got Rid Of My Nvidia GeForce 6800, I Now Have An ATI
Radeon X700, Which I Bought From ATI.Com's Online Store, And I Suggest
that You Do The Same Thing, Just FYI.
