*sigh* Frustration level high.
Since SP2 release and install, have been getting video crashes when starting
any game/program (Civilization3 or Photoshop) that uses DirectX for video
rendering.

Might anyone have a thought or have found a way to fix this? I have
uninstalled drivers, reinstalled latest updates from nVidia.com, have trolled
MS, nVidia and other websites help and support, without any resolution to the
problem.

I get the same problem and have no clue about it. It started as a problem
with crashing caused by a driver but it won't let me update the driver. I
had to rool back and keep the old one

MX440 was a remake of the Geforce 4200 series cards in order to be able
to take advantage of the the 8x interface. Support for these cards are
limited due to newer cards being made with more advance cpu designs.
Make sure you are using Direct x 9.0c and the latest nvidia drivers
which you can check here.

Sp2 has nothing to do with your graphics its more less a security
upgrade for windows. The only issues I am aware of that SP2 has been
causing is port issues while playing online which can be remedied by
changing the ports or going to your security center settings and
assigning ports around thier firewall feature. Also if you use your own
firewall other then sp2's then I would advise to turn off microsofts.
