I just pcked up a Dell 4500 PC (Win XP Pro) with an older monitor. PC has
MX-420 graphics card, and even though I have the latest driver from NVidia
installed, every time I go to windows update site it has older driver listed
as a critical update. If i install the driver from the Windows Update site I
think it's defaulting to a resolution that the monitor cannot handle(higher
than 1024x768), and it shuts down. Only way to get into Windows after
installing the update is through safe mode, where I can re-install driver
from NVidia website, which works fine. I have since hidden the update, but
wanted to report the problem, and/or find out if there is another workaround.
