The limitation to 1600x1200 screen resolution in VGA mode is in the specs for
the video card.
"Vista capable" doesn't mean much, essentially that you will be able to load
the OS, period. It is in no way a guarantee that you can have aero and other
fancy stuff. Just out of curiosity, how did the machine rate?
Any way, I'm not saying that your machine will not be able to run Vista with
aero, it's just that this version of the OS is a beta and the manufacturers
are not quite ready with drivers for all the different hardware. Look at the
situation for all the 64-bit systems. Although Vista is meant to run on a 64
platform, there are even less drivers available for that platform then for
the 32-bit. It's just a matter of not enough customers screaming loud
enough....yet.
