Nvidia Corp. Sound - NVIDIA n Force Audio Codec Interface Update

I am running Windows XP with SP2 and all available critical updates. Upon
automatic notification, I began the installation but I got a message that the
installation failed. My installation history shows it failed twice. How
important is this update to have? Where can I find it to re-install? I can't
find it on the list of available updates. Thanks for your help!

I have the same problem I also run Windows XP SP2 will all criticalupdates.
From a review of the messages it appears several people are having the same
problem. Has anyone come up with a solution yet?

Rich, I went there but cannot determine what to download. I found some
graphics drivers but could not identify an audio package. Any suggestions?
I note from other inquiries that at at least one person lost sound when
downloading an updated driver. Sure don't want that to happen.

I too did the live update and have lost (most of) my sound. I can hear it
from my speakers and subwoofer, but just barely and my volume is cranked.
When I look in history it says firstly that both updates to do with the
nividia were successful on April 28th and then above that, it indicates the
two updates failed. When I tried to re-install, the site said my computer
updates were all current and there was nothing new to install. You suggest
we go to the site you indicate and download???

I had similar problems and I'm running XP. This is how I fixed it:
1st I restored my computer to an earlier date by going to
Start/Programs/Accesories/System Tools/Restore

2nd I went to the Windows Update and Installed the .NET Framework Service
Pack and Securiy Update.

I haven't received the update notice on the NVIDIA Sound since I did the
above. I'm not going to installit until I hear ack from MSoft on this issue.

One wonders if Microsoft caused the problem why does Microsoft not provide a
fix?
