I've posted a similar problem on 29/4/2005: an offer to install the update
repeated every time I start the computer, followed by an "Installation
Failed" box if I accept the offer to install. I don't have any idea what to
do about it either but you're DEFINITELY not alone. My update is
Nvidia Corporation - Sound - NVIDIA(R) nForce(TM) Audio Codec Interface
Microsoft seem good at (sporadically) posting replies here so let's hope
they do it for us eventually. For me, I'd be quite happy if I knew how to
remove that waiting-to-be-installed update and arrange for it not to be
downloaded again.
