When I first installed vista home premium 32bit and tried to play any of my
games it would result in a BSOD with nvmcp.sys being the culprit.

The helper system said that I need to update my nvmcp.sys file from windows
update but there wasn't one to update to, it never listed it.

I used the DFI (my mainboard mfg) Nvidia NF4 CD that came with my mainboard
which is meant for XP and not vista to update the sound (which is what
nvmcp.sys is for) and use the drivers on the CD.

The system works reliably and never BSOD's now, but now windows update says,
that I should update the nvidia sound again (probably because Im using the
old one which works) and so I thought I'd give it a try. So I update it,
restart and try to play a game and sure as rice is white, I get the same
BSOD saying that nvmcp.sys is the culprit.

Fortunately vista made a restore point which I would never have done on my
own, so I rolled the system back to the restore point which had the old XP
nvmcp.sys file installed and sure enough the system doesn't BSOD any more.

This is purely a comment for MS in case they actually read anything here or
for anyone else that might be experiencing the same problem that I had.
