In regard to the limits of installed RAM when installing Vista

It has been noted that when you install Vista(any flavor) that yo
should have no more then 2 gigs installed when first setting Vista up.

Microsoft has provided me with a fresh copy of Vista(both x86 and x64
with new product keys as well(ultimate and business). The disk the sen
me all have SP1 integrated into the disk. I reinstalled Vista with th
new x64 disk and when doing so I forgot about the RAM limits and jus
installed normally

No problems

Prehaps having SP1 integrated has fixed this issue

Its something to remember if you have a disk with SP1 already on you
disk

If anyone else has tried this and had the same luck I did please le
everyone else know

It should also be noted that I used my old ultimate product key when
reinstalled. Now I have more Vista ultimate keys then I have systems
Seems weird

Where has this been noted?

I've never seen or heard anything like that. It's completely nuts.

It was fixed in sp1. There was a problem with SATA CD/DVD drives and more
than 2 gb ram that caused a BSOD on some systems. You had to install Vista
with only 2 gb then apply the KB929777 fix. Then you can install all your
ram.

"Noted" by whom, precisely? I've never heard of this nonsensical claim
before now.

I saw the thread you are referring to but I don't agree with it. I
think the problem was caused by something else. I have done clean installs
of Vista Home Premium and Ultimate with both 3GB and 4GB of Ram already
installed on the system, pre SP1 and post SP1 and experienced no problems
whatsoever.

I think you're referring to the issue discussed in the link below.
