The 10/10 updates crashed my desktop (although not my laptop). The desktop
is running Windows XP Media Center 2002.
The desktop would boot to the windows loading screen and then revert to the
HP default screen and then back to windows loading. It was an endless loop.
Since I was not sure what had caused the crash, I used the recovery feature
on the HP default screen and returned my desktop to factory condition.
After hours of downloading updates with no problems I got to the final set
dated 10/10 and gave it a try. The system crashed again, with the same
endless loop and windows failing to boot. So I know the updates were the
cause of the problem.
Again, I restored and downloaded all updates but the 10/10 set. Things are
running fine now and I have hidden the offending updates. My question is
this: Am I to never download those updates? As of yesterday, they caused
my machine to crash. I know some posters have found that they could
download them later but that doesn't seem to be the case for me.
What is the danger of ignoring those updates forever?
thanks,
Darlene
