Odd Problem. (Any help appreciated!)

Alright, got an odd problem was wondering if anyone had any input:

Went to download a trailer for "there will be blood" (quicktime .mov
format) however during the download an error occured. Not thinking much
of it, I ignored and went about the rest of my tasks. Unfortunately the
directory I was downloading to, (desktop) now has an icon entitled
"therewillbeblood-tlr1r_720p" which cannot be deleted. Conventional
deleting (recycle bin / right clicking) yields the deleting status,
showing the deletion status bar yet never moves nor changes. 30min later
the file which is said to be "131 bytes" is hasn't deleted.

I've tried downloading a few "Unlocker" applications but to no avail.
I've even booted up in safe mode, and still cannot delete the icon.

Once again, when I do press delete the deletion status window appears,
the bar showing, but never changing or making progress. Eventually its
needs to be closed through the task manager.

Any advice on how I can delete this icon? Its stuck on my desktop! (any
help is very appreciated!)

Try deleting all your temp files with a program called ccleaner. Chec
your startup programs and see if it's in there and delete it. Have yo
deleted the trailer itself

Have you tried this Unlocker?

Unlocker

Might be worth a try to do a system restore
to a time before you downloaded the file:

restart in safe mode, delete file

if that doesn't fix the issue, and you have WinRar installed, rar the
file, making sure "delete files after archiving" is checked. This
should delete the original file, then, simply, delete the rar file as
normal.

Airbot. The trailer itself is what I'm trying to delete. The faile
download of it that is, which is 131 bytes.

John. Tried the program you suggested, Unlocker to no avail, says th
file is not locked. A system restore wouldn't work, restore does no
delete files you download, such as a .mov file, instead it would delet
installations ect.

Zoloft. Tried both methods of safe mode deletion and .rar ing the fil
and having it delete the old, safe mode deletion does the same thing a
standard shows the status bar, but never goes away, never deletes it
just stays there. Trying to .rar, move the file, rename or anything els
causes it to crash requring the task manager end program.

Anyone??? Once again, situtation: cannot delete a "131 byte" file of
my desktop. When I try to delete status bar appears, and nothin
happens. :

I'm kinda stumped as to why you can't delete it. Try taking ownership
of it. Maybe it will work.

Do a Chkdsk /f and see if that takes care of it. If it doesn't, then I'd try
deleting it from an elevated command prompt.

I have frequently (but not always) had success with this by opening a
command session, but specifying that it open "Run as administrator." then
doing a regular "DEL" at the command line. I've had to do this on a few
occasions dispite the fact that I use the machine as the admin.
