Odd sleep behaviour

Initially in my new system the sleep command would not work at all. The
monitors would turn off, but the box didn't. It would also not wake with the
keyboard or mouse and since it never actually turned off I had to restart by
holding the button for 5 seconds. Not exactly what I would prefer to do.

After doing some looking here I found that S3 in the BIOS could be the issue
so I checked that and sure enough it was disabled. After correcting that the
Sleep worked perfectly for 1 day either on its own or user invoked, but after
one day it has went right back to doing what it did before. Turns off the
monitors and hangs.

I've been using Vista now for 2 weeks on a brand new system and it seems
that I spend more time trying to understand why something isn't working than
actually getting work out of the machine. It is getting a little
frustrating. Is this OS ready for general use or am I involved in some grand
beta testing by mistake? My list of things that do not work or work only
part of the time is longer than the list of fixes and each day I find
something else that isn't quite right. I'm working on the bigger ones first
hoping the others will correct themselves.

Thanks.

Bart
