Hello,
I am getting a warning dialog box from IE8 whenever I attempt to save one
particular page from one of my legacy web applications by clicking the "Page"
menu and selecting "Save As". I can not find any mention of this message
despite an hour of web searching. The message text is as follows:
This webpage might not save completely. If you do save, check that the file
contains the information you wanted.
Would you like to save the page anyway?
It also includes a checkbox for the "Don't show this message again" option and
YES and NO buttons.
The content of the page is either straight text or html, based on the user's
choice on the previous page. The page is generated by a HTTPS POST to a servlet
under Apache Tomcat 6.0.20 running on a current Debian server.
I have tried this on both a fully patched Windows 7 box and one running Windows
XP SP3. The error occurs when Tomcat is behind Apache HTTPD or running
standalone. If using the html variant output, the html is valid and well
formed. In either case, the output file ends with a correctly terminated line.
The page does have an appropriate Content-Type: header for each type of file,
and I cannot see anything amiss looking at the request under Fiddler.
Has anyone seen this message before? Did I neglect to provide some helpful
information? If anyone wants to see this happen, I can provide a URL and
credentials to the development server privately.
Thanks,
-Greg
