"Offer Remote Assistance.." is missing from Actions' list

There used to be option of "Offer Remote Assinstace" in the Action list
but I found it missing. "Request Remote Assistance" is still there in
the list. WLM version is Version 2008(Build 8.5.1302.1018) installed on
Windows Vista Ultimate.
I wonder what has happened with that option. Does anyone know about this?

Greetings,

I see what you mean. It must have been cut.

Which is ridiculous considering how much they made a fuss over this initially. On the plus
side, you can still reach it from Windows Remote Assistance in the start menu albeit without
Messenger integration.

Jonathan,

So, it is confirmed that that option has been dropped *quietly* by MS.
Alternative way to offer Remote Assistance you mentioned, however, has a
big drawback: Remote Assistance provider needs get a global IP from the
recipient of the service who most likely does not have any clue about it.
Off Topic: I have a problem with Remote assistance and I am going to
create a new thread for this topic. I am hoping that you would respond.

Hi,

Well you can use the save as a file option and transfer that over Messenger. I used to do
that in XP too.

Hi,

I have never tried that method, but it appears that the assistance
recipient has to initiate the action by sending the file to the help
provider.

On the other hand, it is true that the help recipient has to communicate
his request for help by text message, voice chat session, etc. to the
help provider even when "Offer Remote Assistance" is to be used.

Try "Crossloop" - much easier than MS remote assistance
