Office 2003 Questions

Hello all,

Can anyone point me to where I can post questions about Microsoft Office
2003 SP2. The service pack has introduced a new set of problems (Microsoft
calls them features) for me and it's driving me crazy. When typing in Word
when I hit a errant key on the keyboard things like "Auto Caps" turns on and
everything I type after that is capitalized even though the caps key is not
engaged. Since I don't know how I turned the feature on in the first place,
I don't know how to turn it off.

I remember a similar thing happened a few weeks ago when I hit a errant key
on the keyboard and some feature was engaged that I could not turn off. In
both cases I had to completely close down Word and reopen it. It would have
been nice to have a little balloon popup appear asking me if I want to engage
the feature instead of doing this behind my back with no indication as to why
this feature just turned itself on.

I don't know if this is really limited to Word 2003 or if Vista is playing a
role here also. I have noticed that Vista has a tendency toward meddling
where it doesn't belong much like it's creator.

Help please before I commit a crime.

-A

I have a completely up to date Office Professional 2003 installed with Vista
Home Premium, and it works perfectly.

Vista is DEFINITELY not meddling with it.

As Winston says - Ctrl Shift A turns on "All Caps". This is different to
clicking the Caps Lock key in that the Caps Lock key does not turn this
feature on and off. If you have customised toolbars (as everyone should!)
you can add an All Caps shortcut button to one of the toolbars. You would
then be able to SEE that this button was selected if you accidentally hit
Ctrl Shift A.

On the topic of customised toolbars, the lack thereof of this ability in
Office 2007 is a major step backwards to those who employ serious formatting
in their documents.

Best regards,
Brian.

Yes Alias, it was helpful to you.

It took out something that YOU thought could be a problem; namely Vista,
which gets blamed too quickly for every problem.

Thanks to all that responded. Your info at least helped me figure out what
happened. Now, does anyone know how to turn these fancy features off forever
:-)
