From what I am able to see, noone has responded with the answer to error
0x530. In my case, at least, I finally after repeated update failures over a
6 month period, I noted today, in someone's message here, a reference to the
Office update log files. I found those on my system, four of them, all the
same, one for each failed attempt I incurred. At the very botttom of the log
text, is printed the message that "the patch has alreaady been applied." It
seems shortsighted to me that Microsoft would not be able to display that
text in the update dialog that is produced during all updates. Sheeesh!
