If your office installation was from CD, simply put the CD in the CD drive
before launching the update. At least this worked for me.

Had the same problem. Contacted MS Tech and they sent me to this address:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

For complete instruction go to: http://rockawaymo.us/sp 2.htm
This link is what MS Tech sent me.

It worked fine. All my MS Office products updated fine and work as they did.

Hope this helps.

What if your computer did not come with the installation cd? That is the
problem I am having...what do you suggest? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, not sure what to do in that case. Even if you download SP2 as Rich
suggests, I believe it will ask you for your CD or path to the orginal
installation files.

If your computer did not come with the installation CD, I'd be wondering
where the Office installation came from.

Since the Product Key is on a yellow sticker on the back of the cardboard CD
case,
there's not much way to have a Product Key unless you got media.

If you really want to know, download the Belarc Advisor from
http://www.belarc.com, which can extract your 25-character Product Key from
the registry, then call Microsoft and ask 'em if it's a valid key for your
system. Even if you don't call Microsoft, print the Belarc report so you'll
have a copy of the /installed/ Product Key, should you ever need to
reinstall/reactivate your Office 2003.
