Hi,

When i try to install the Office 2003 SP2 update from the MS website i get
an error message saying that it cannot be installed. I wonder why this is
happening. When i visited the MS update site again it said that the update
was downloaded but when i tried to update it it gave the same error message.
Even when i install from the Office update site, i get an error message

Regards,

Hello Ashish I get exactly the same problem with an error code of 0x530 but
there does not seem to be any info on how to fix it. The post that says to
just hide the update is not in my view helpful because of all the security
holes that this SP fixes.

I am running Office 2003 on Windows 2000.
I went to Microsoft update.
Click on "Review your update history.
Click on the red dot under status.
It opens a screen that gives you the error code 0x51f
Click on Find Solutions.
type in the 0x51f code into the search tool, leave all other settings in
default.
You will get a hyperlonk below that says "Office Update fails to Install
with erro 0x51f
click on it.
It will state that your LIS tool is in a corrupted state. Download the
LISTool.exe.
The web address for this tool in on this page, cut and paste it into your
web browser and press enter.
Follow the instructions.
Download the .exe program that repairs the LIS.
after loading and running the program and disabling LIS as instructed I
updated 2003 again, but I got another error code but it just said to run
update again. I did and the SP 2 pack installed correctly.

Good luck.

Thanks Mousey, that worked just fine for me. One point though, after
disabling the LIS, when installing the update, a box came up about a missing
file. To over come this I put in my 2003 CD and the update went ahead and
completed.

I installed listool and ran sp2 update. The update ran just like downtown. It
worked with listool still installed. I had to insert my office 2003 cd to get
it to work.

Undesrtood, looks like it is a different case for different computers.

On My second computer, my notebook, I simply tried using the "Full File
Download" after I could not update SP 2 and this worked fine.
